What it is
Ugo Rondinone 'The Shape of Silence' Exhibition Starting October 27, 2026, the exhibition 'The Shape of Silence' by artist Ugo Rondinone is being held at Jōzō-in Temple. Born in Switzerland, Rondinone, based in New York, has been exploring nature not as mere scenery but as a spiritual state, examining human existence within the body, consciousness, and eternal time. In this exhibition, which is his first solo show in Japan, 17 stone figures and one painting of the sun are installed in the interior of Jōzō-in Temple, known for the famous scenic spot 'Tsukinotani,' and one sculpture of a monk is placed at the foot of the West Gate.
