The final day will close at 18:00. Admission fee is 500 yen. For more information, visit the special site: https://sapporo.parco.jp/page/signs/ A preview and talk show will be held. The thoughts put into 'SIGNS', the background of its creation, and episodes from the preparation period will be shared. This is a special opportunity to better understand the world of 'SIGNS' by learning stories that the exhibition alone cannot convey. The preview is by invitation only, but the talk show is open to general visitors. Date and time: October 8 (Thu) Talk show: 18:00-19:00 For details and applications, visit the site. A gallery tour will be held. Mugi Maeda himself will guide visitors through the exhibition space. While going around the works, the artist will explain in his own words 'why it took this form' and 'what idea it was born from'. Getting in touch with the creative process that the works alone cannot convey, such as sketches, choice of materials, and trial and error, is a charm unique to this tour. Date and time: October 17 (Sat) Gallery tour: 13:00 (planned) For details and applications, visit the site. 'SIGNS' is a series that uses road signs. By observing them closely, you can see that they are simply composed of various colors and shapes, a design refined over a long history. Maeda has expressed these signs with Eye of Fire. The fusion of the rational symbolism of signs and the irrationality of a devil character gives rise to a new graphic expression as artwork. MAIN STRUCTURE SIGNS series and scaffolding tubes are used to create an installation work. The familiar combination of scaffolding tubes, mainly used on construction sites, and road signs stands naturally as a single structure. LIBRARY A collection of sketchbooks that Maeda has used when organizing ideas and the like. These are always kept around the desk at his office, and quite a number of volumes have piled up. For Maeda, for whom every idea begins with a sketch, rough unorganized lines may be the purest form of expression, as if connected directly from brain to arm. If you like, please turn the pages gently and take a look. ARCHIVE Maeda has worked in a wide range of fields such as advertising, magazines, and commercials, always based in Sapporo.
